Well everyone else is commenting on it so I might as well. I thoroughly enjoyed every game I played in.
Pheno was great I like being organized and playing with a team but I must admit that the occasional game with strangers is good. This year we resurrected the Blue Room Gamers. Robbie Rod and I all played our first games at the Blue Room a student lounge at UNSW back in the late 70s. Barb has been playing with us since she married Rod and she and I have carved up the roleplaying territory to something we can both live with. Fish and Marcus were supposed to fill the fifth place but Marcus didn't get a table top since he had to work days and most of the tabletops were in the day. Fish filled in nicely but he has also been gaming with us for a while.
Friday Night Curse of the Obisidian Wolf Marissa Harris. Had a great time played Mace a junkie with only 4 etabs left and a lot of connections and computer skills as well as some skill with weaponry it felt good. She kicked arse.
Saturday Morning Pack Stuart Barrow I thought I did okay, at least the town looked like it was going to thrive. Although I can't say that I really wanted to take the headman's throne. Player problem not the characters.
Saturday Afternoon/Evening Journey to the new World. Renee and Fi. I love the 7th Sea games these 2 present and this was no exception. Apparently I have just introduced the germ that will later become syphillis to the rest of Theah. Why me?
Saturday Night Six Soldiers Jacinta Thomler Jacinta's game I probably enjoyed the least because I had no known background to draw on (bloody DitV) and this meant I was probably drawing more on Dea than anything else and I roleplay for fantasy damnit. Jacinta's game was one of the one's I picked up as a filler as Barb and Rod had decided not to play that evening. I think that game was also hampered by the fact that Steph was playing the only female and most if not all the male characters in the game had slept with her. I found that a little hard to make work, I don't play males real well and that's my daughter damnit. I don't divorce myself enough from my characters to cope.
Sunday Morning Till Human Voices Wake Us. Andrew Smith Cthulu and one of my favourite time periods great fun. Had a fun character and a lot of fun playing her.
Sunday Afternoon. Union Blues Myk ? Another pick up with complete strangers had a great game felt completely at home in his creation played Kay a chinese female mad scientist who was also a spy for the union. Had a good time while angsting over whether I should fess up or just run away when the train got to Union territory. Unfortunately manitou and demons had other ideas.
Sunday Evening. Dread Legacy Tim Smith Bob Barbetti Great game had a corset and everything what more can you ask of a game. Unfortunately I'd only had a couple of hours sleep Sat night so I was fading fast and nothing went right so I was late to the game. Since I was bringing Jahn's costume this meant we ended up dressing him in the "Vault" area of the game. Jahn did amazingly well as a southern belle. Have to get him drag more often.
Sunday Night Didn't go to the banquet. I hate turkish food. So went back to the motel and collapsed. Got a good nights sleep but was really sluggish Monday morning.
Monday Morning Clan of the Unnamed Ninjas. ?? Won the award for best group for this. Rod and Robbie's best arena. A bunch of wannabees trying to get their clan accepted by the rest of the Ninjas. Robbie=Old man imparting wisdom to the youth. Rod=clumsy ninja who's luck is gross, Fish=nephew of old man who would rather be a kabuki actor not a ninja. Barb/Dea Twin sisters who have run away from a rich home for a life of adventure. I was rich pretty and stylish how could I not be the best ninja. Barb was actually the robot I created so I could get away from the boring parts of my life unfortunately she wanted out as well so we ran away together.
Exploding Sumo Wrestlers rule.
Monday Afternoon Project Starswarm Peter Truman I have played in a couple of Peter's games and have enjoyed all of them. He actually scripts the opening scene and I find this great for getting a feel for the character. I must admit that Sean and Jahn both winced when they saw the name of the character I had been given. Simone rides again. If we could have just kept a closer eye on Tim we'd have won.
All in all great time. I have already organized my team for next year.
Robbie is already talking running not playing so I have grabbed my other group. Joe is talking about running a Freeform which I will of course play. I will also play Random's Freeform I am going to start working on my costume any day now. But I think that may be it for freeforms for the con too much costuming takes away from the fun for me I think. |
